Letter from EuCheMS

Dear Fellow Chemists,

The biannual European Chemistry Congresses (ECC) series has established itself as the pre-eminent scientific event for the European chemical community and their guests from abroad. For the 5th congress in this series, the Turkish Chemical Society has invited us to come to Istanbul. The dedicated Local Organizers and the top-class Scientific Committee have set the stage for another successful ECC with an exciting scientific and social program.

Once again, the ECC will provide an opportunity to demonstrate the strength and the problem-solving capabilities of European chemistry both in academia and industry. Progress in curiosity-driven and applied chemistry is an essential element of innovation as well as for dealing with the formidable challenges of our century. The latest progress in all areas of chemistry will be presented by eminent Plenary and Topic keynote speakers from all over the world, as well as a great number of oral contributions and posters.

My special invitation goes to young(er) chemists, to showcase their research and ideas and to take advantage of this unique networking opportunity. One of the aims of the ECC series is to become the platform for junior chemists in Europe.

The ECC is also a “family gathering” of European chemists. The Istanbul congress will offer rich opportunities to connect to colleagues and friends from Europe, the Middle East and beyond. Since Istanbul is located in Asia and Europe this will hopefully encourage many chemists from the neighbouring countries to join us. The previous ECC in Prague hosted chemists from nearly all European countries and 62 countries worldwide, which is a mark to beat.

I am looking forward to meeting you in Istanbul and to enjoying the hospitality of our Turkish colleagues.
